At AtomicGarden, we take pride in the sites we create for our clients. Our sites are designed to give your audience an experience that keeps them coming back. Read on to learn more about our site design philosophy.
Design
Art and graphics are the pieces that bring a web site's design to life. Art and graphics can be created using our stock art, art from a manufacturer or supplier web site (with permission), or from original images provided by you. This art can be used
standalone or incorporated into the overall design and layout of each page of your site.
We will use information you give us - favorite web sites, design ideas, information about your business and site content - to develop a page layout that will look clean and crisp. Our goal is to create sites that represent your orgznization and make
it as clear and easy as possible for your customers to navigate, gather information, and make purchases.
Technology
Generally, we design sites to work in a default browser window in today's lowest common monitor resolution - 800 pixels by 600 pixels. You can be assured that your site will fit on over 95% of Internet users' screens.
While we design our sites to be compatible with version 5.0 and higher web browsers, browser technology is changing rapidly. AtomicGarden websites are W3C compliant and are optimized for the newer sixth and seventh generation Web Browsers. All designs
are tested for compatibility with both the Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator Web Browsers. If you fall into that 2% of Internet users that are still hanging on to an older Web Browser, rest assured that we will continue to try to keep
your best interests in mind. However, you will find installing the newer browsers to be cleaner, faster and easier to use, even on older operating systems.
Our custom sites are compatible with Macromedia Contribute web content editing software. Contribute is designed with the content manager (in effect, you) in mind. Updating a web site with Contribute is as easy as browsing to your web site inside Contribute,
hitting the "Edit" button, making your changes just like you would in a word processor, and clicking the "Publish" button. You can even drag text from Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel documents right into your page!
Web Applications include any set of pages that requires programming on the Web Server side of a web site. These typically require more time to develop and closer work with the client to gather functionality requirements. Event calendars that you can
update on the web, member lists whose data changes regularly, Internet storefronts and shopping carts, a web-based feedback form, and collecting customer information are all examples of Web Applications that require programming on the Web Server. We
develop our Web application solutions using Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server databases, Active Server Pages, Visual Basic, and Microsoft .NET. We also offer online shopping through the use of Miva Merchant web
server software.
Performance
We want your home page to load in 8 seconds or less. If extensive, attractive graphics are truly needed, it may be acceptable to allow 15-30 seconds. It is better to reserve larger pictures and fancy graphics for pages visitors choose to see, instead
of making them wade through things they are not interested in to get to what they are looking for.
