Custom Web Development

Free Consultation:

Your first consultation with AtomicGarden is free of charge. We will meet to discuss the goals of your project, in person or by phone. This meeting will give you a chance to evaluate our ability to communicate and accomplish your goals. We will discuss your needs and your opportunities and try to formulate a rough plan and cost estimate. During or after our meeting, we will sharpen the goals of the project and obtain a final project description and quotation.

Preparation:
Once you choose AtomicGarden Web Design as your web partner, we begin the Preperation phase. we meet on a regular basis (at your discretion) to finalize the project plan for development. At this stage it is a good idea for you to collect a list of web sites you like, or sites you want us to consider when designing your site. We will not 'steal' the work of other web designers, but we may 'benchmark' other sites to examine what you like and don't like about them. You may also want to collect materials that may end up on the web site. These materials may include: images, photos, pictures, ads and ad art from manufacturers or trade associations, company literature, sales letters, magazine or newspaper clippings about your company or industry, or anything you think will help us make your web site great. Through a tested and thorough process, we will work together with you or your staff to determine site goals, functionality, content and structure or site architecture. The result of this process is a detailed Design and Development Document describing the outline and layout of your site. This part of the project may consume 25% of the budget.

Development:
After building our Design and Development Documentation, we will design the look and feel of the site. This part of the project may consume another 25% of the budget. Production may begin immediately, or it may begin in one to four weeks after you engage our services, depending on our workload and the amount of time it takes to complete the preparation phase. Production will proceed at about 10 - 20 hours of work per week as long as we have the necessary guidance, feedback, art, and content from the client. Schedules and deadlines will be met to the best of our ability. Client delays in providing material are the usual reasons for delays or missed deadlines. If you provide what we need, we will generally meet your deadlines!

Completion:
A web site that has an estimate of 50 hours as an example, a web site may take 2 to 3 weeks to complete, once we start making web pages and producing art. The entire process may take a month or more. Some projects take longer than estimated, due to events and circumstances beyond anyone's control. These delays may be caused by clients schedule, other demands on client time that may preclude meeting as often as needed to provide guidance and feedback, or by emergency work received by AtomicGarden. The site is completed most or all pages and functionality originally specified and approved by the client are largely in place and functioning. Increasing detail or increased sophistication in certain pages may require additional work at a later time. Web sites generally continue to evolve over time and may never truly be finished. Some parts of the project may require more time than anticipated, forcing an adjustment in time to be spent on other parts of the project.
